To The Manor Born

I just wanted to share a couple of images from a really gorgeous shoot I styled a few weeks back in the amazing surroundings of Hayfield Manor.

Vivienne from Lockdown Models and myself spent a while thinking of the correct way to bring our concept to life and drew inspiration from the idea of a really glamorous slinky slip with maybe a mens tweed jacket thrown over it.  Contrasts like that were key so we also used things like soft chunky knits, slip dresses and mens shirts to create a sexy but stylish look.

Add to that the beautiful make up from the fantastic Kate Noonan and the photography of Kest at Anuzis Photography and I knew that we would end up with some awesome images.  I picked some beautiful pieces from Miss Daisy Blue, including a 1930's Friedricks of Hollywood black slip, Mercury Goes Retrograde and Gap on Opera Lane.

Hope you love these images as much as I do!

Toodles,

T.

De Loup A/W’13 Collection

I first came across De Loup Designs last year when I borrowed some of her amazing pieces for a photoshoot I was styling.  Her new A/W ’13 collection entitled “Chatoyez” is to die for as Amy descibes it herself is a mixture of  sophisticated metallics with grungey undertones.  I’ve already earmarked a few pieces that I need in my wardrobe so here are my top picks.

Mr. Ennis 2013

A few weeks ago I hit the town of Ennis to judge the Mr.Ennis contest which is now in it’s second year.  The contest was started as a charity even by my good friend Timmie Murphy when he won the Mr.Gay Clare event and the gorgeous Hazel McMahon who was the the reigning Miss Clare.  I’m more used to the glitz and glam of the Miss Universe Cork pageant so I was interested to see what a male pageant would be like.  Let me tell you it did not disappoint and I had one of the best nights ever with plenty of fun and cheeky chappie behaviour galore.

There was also a prize for best dressed on the night and last years winner and fellow blogger Mikie O’ Loughlin of mystylemykey were tasked with the difficult decision of who to pick.

The worthy winners.
I have to say I felt like I was walking the red carpet at the Oscars due to my amazing dress from The Dress Bar.  It was so something that I wouldn’t normally wear but the minute I put it on I had that ‘this is the one’ moment.

Recent Press Work

I’m really bad for updating all my work here so I’ve resolved to make more of an effort.  Here’s a piece that I worked on recently for the WoW in The Echo.
This was a piece I did for the Echo on our current Miss Universe Cork Nicola Meldrum and I took inspiration for the shoot from my favourite episodes of Sex and the City which is when Carrie goes to Paris and the huge cafe culture over there.  My Parisian obsession is huge!!

Karora…A Spray Tan Review

I was recently invited by The Salon Shop to come have a Karora spray tan done so of course I was only too happy to oblige.  While I always wear fake tan I had only ever twice before had a spray tan. Once from an automatic booth which was all the rage back in 2001 and once from an actual person.  I’ve become a rather dab hand at bronzing my own bod but of course its always so much easier getting someone else to do it. I find I need to call on my yoga training and contortionist skills (of which I have none) to get my back fully mahog!!

I began my prep three days before hand with plenty of rigorous scrubbing in an attempt to get rid of the fake tan I was already wearing. My body seems to be extra absorbent because this layer of tan was not budging. Numerous scalding showers later and I was (almost) tan free.  Off I headed to the Salon Shop where the lovely Georgina talked me through the Karora range.
The Karora Range
The Karora Range

Karora is an Irish brand which uses organic ingredients which claim to have an age fighting, skin firming and cellulite smoothing formula.  Anyway I wasn’t really interested in all that I was more interested in being brown as a berry.  I loved that it literally took minutes to spray my whole body whereas at home I’d be at it for a good half hour and I was practically dry instantly.  Off home I went and got straight into the pjs to let it take effect. While the boyf complained I felt sticky he liked that I didn’t have my usual fake tan aroma of curry and biscuits wafting around the room.  I actually smelt very pleasant.

The next morning I had a quick shower and what I noticed first was how lovely and soft my skin felt.  I loved how the tan came out on my face and upper body but I could have been a bit darker on my legs. Now it probably was the correct colour for my skin tone which is of the mottled corned beef variety but I always give my legs an extra coating when I’m self tanning. I had a wedding that weekend and it was such a time saver getting my spray tan done before hand.  My tan stayed perfectly even for around five days and only started to fade on the sixth which I was delighted with.

I would definitely like to try the Karora self tanning range at home and with eight weddings coming up this year I’ll definitely be getting a couple of spray tans.
